Tom Barber had a highly distinguished career and played an important role in the growth of the Southern California PGA. A multiple award winner, Barber has received the SCPGA Heritage Award, the SCPGA Bill Strausbaugh Award and is an SCPGA Honorary Life Member. He was a five-time SCPGA major champion, and was the founder of the SCPGA Players Championship. He was both an SCPGA and SCGA Honors Match Honoree and a past SCPGA Board Member. He was the Co-Founder of the original SCPGA Merchandise Show and Professional at Griffith Park Golf Coures, early on with his faither SCPGA Hall of Fame member and PGA Champion, Jerry Barber.
