Shortly after graduating from the University of Oregon in 1966, Bob Lovejoy served in the United States Marine Corps until 1969. He became a PGA Member in 1974 and served on the Board of Directors for the SCPGA for 20 years, including a stint as president from 1983 to 1985. He was awarded the SCPGA Bill Strausbaugh Award in 1988, 1989 and 1990, as well as the SCPGA's Golf Professional of the Year in 1992.
